Throughout the program, students are taught to read like detectives. They break the reading into four quadrants, and read using the CIA (Collect-Interpret-Apply) approach. This method aligns to the standards as students move from thinking about Key Ideas & Details (Standards 1-3), to Craft & Structure (Standards 4-6), and finally the Integration of Knowledge (Standards 7-9).

The CIA Approach Alignment to Standards
Collect Critical Information in Quadrant 1 Key Ideas & Details (Standards 1-3)
